Faber elected
to second term as Senate President
COLUMBUS – “Being an effective senator would be impossible without the
support of your family,” newly elected Ohio Senate President Keith
Faber (Dist. 12, R) told 32 senators and their families during the
opening ceremonies of the 131st General Assembly. He noted the lost
time with children, the bedtime stories not read, sporting events
missed. “The sacrifice is not only yours… it is your family’s.”
He said the oath they took was not to a party or an individual, it was
to the State of Ohio. It was to provide the best place to live – and
the best possible opportunity – to every child in the state. He added
there were two reasons he is doing what he does… his children, Adam and
Brooke.
Faber had just been elected to his second term as Senate President and
will finish his constitutional term limit in that office, as well as
that of a state senator, on Dec. 31, 2016. He has held the gavel of the
upper chamber since January 2013.
The opening ceremonies were called to order by Faber as the senate
president of the recent 130th General Assembly. Following roll call,
all 33 senators took the Oath of Office. The oath was administered to
23 Republican senators by Justice Sharon Kennedy, Supreme Court of
Ohio. It was administered to the 10 Democrat senators...
