Attorney General Mike DeWine
Ohio Man
Sentenced to Life in Prison Following Conviction on Rape Charges
(MARYSVILLE, Ohio) -- Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced today
that a Marysville man has been sentenced to serve the rest of his life
in prison following his conviction last month on charges related to the
sexual assault of three children.
Union County Common Pleas Judge David Faulkner sentenced Jean Paul
Kruse, 42, to life in prison without parole at a sentencing hearing
this afternoon.
"This defendant went to great lengths in an attempt to cover up his
crimes, and the damage he has done to the victims in this case is
immeasurable," said Attorney General DeWine. "He preyed on
vulnerable children who placed their trust in him, and now this
predator will spend the rest of his life in prison where he will never
have the ability to hurt another child."
As part of the sentence, Judge Faulkner also designated Kruse as a Tier
III sex offender.
Last month, a jury found Kruse guilty of five counts of rape, five
counts of sexual battery, four counts of gross sexual imposition, and
one count of intimidation of an attorney, victim, or witness in a
criminal case.
Prosecutors with Attorney General DeWine's Special Prosecutions Section
prosecuted the case, which was investigated by authorities with the
Marysville Police Department.
Kruse's wife, Emily Kruse, 37, is also facing charges as a result of
the investigation. Emily Kruse is scheduled for trial this month
on charges of obstructing justice, tampering with evidence,
intimidation, and intimidation of an attorney, victim, or witness in a
criminal case.
