Bicycle-truck
crash injures 5-year-old
On May 13, 2015 at approximately 6:05 PM, Darke County Deputies along
with Bradford Fire & Rescue, and CareFlight, responded to the 8100
block of Martin Road on a report of a vehicle and bicycle injury
crash.
Preliminary investigation revealed a UPS delivery truck driven by Mark
Nisonger, 48, of Greenville was traveling North on Martin Road when a 5
year old boy riding his bicycle entered the roadway from a private
driveway into the trucks lane of travel and was struck by the UPS
truck. Mr. Nisonger did take evasive action trying to avoid the
collision but was unable to.
The 5 year old boy was taken by Careflight to Dayton's Children Medical
Center for his injuries. The child was not wearing any protective
head gear while riding his bicycle.
The child is being kept over night for observation with non-life
threatening injuries.
This accident is still under investigation by the Darke County
Sheriff's Office, and the Sheriff's Office encourages children to wear
protective head gear while riding their bikes.
