Early Bird,
Berry garner 4 regional awards
GREENVILLE – The Early Bird Newspaper and Editor Ryan Berry garnered
four regional awards from the Mid-Atlantic Community Paper Association.
Three were for Berry’s original writing and one was for a staff effort
for the 2014 Veterans Day tab.
The Veterans tab received the First Place Community Service award in
the sequential pages category. The original writing awards were: First
Place News Story for “Strike Possible if Hospital and WPWA Can’t
Agree;” First Place Personal Column for three selections from Ryan’s
World; and Honorable Mention for Featured Story, “Dickey’s Story will
Continue to be Told.”
“I’m excited about this,” Berry said. “It feels good to be recognized
by your peers.” He added he was really proud of the personal column
recognition. “I just started writing things down… letting the family
