Columbus (May 5, 2015) ... The Ohio Academy of Science today awarded

plans that excelled at the recent State competition for Believe in Ohio.
Awardees included students from 44 schools in 24 counties. Earlier,
local schools received $214,190 including $93,190 for student awards
and $121,000 in program support.
“Believe in Ohio is the only statewide Ohio student STEM education
program to integrate entrepreneurship and innovation as pathways to
create future jobs,” said Dr. Lynn Elfner, CEO Emeritus of The Ohio
Academy of Science and Co-Director of Believe in Ohio.
“All 172 students were evaluated 11 or more times by judges from
industry, government including the military and academia,” Elfner
continued.
“As I read their plans I had to remind myself that these were high
school students, not college or graduate students. Their presentations
were tremendous and strong,” commented Mr. Bob Sopko, Director of the
Blackstone Launchpad Entrepreneurship program at Case Western Reserve
University. Mr. Sopko was one of the more than 70 STEM and
entrepreneurship professionals who judged Believe in Ohio’s State

Believe in Ohio is a student STEM entrepreneurship program of The Ohio
Academy of Science, in cooperation with Entrepreneurial Engagement
Ohio, and funded by The Ohio General Assembly through The Ohio Board of
Regents. The program develops Ohio's next generation of innovators to
create jobs through the application of science, technology,
engineering, and mathematics and to innovate new products and services.
