Accidental
shooting in Arcanum
Arcanum- On October 4, 2015 at approximately 6:07 P.M. Darke County
Deputies along with Gettysburg Fire, Arcanum Rescue, and CareFlight
were dispatched to an address on Gettysburg Pitsburg Rd. reference a
gun shot wound.
Preliminary investigation shows that Riley Cottrell (21) of Arcanum was
attempting to clean his firearm when it accidently discharged striking
Cottrell in the leg. Cottrell was initially treated by Arcanum Rescue
then transported from the scene to Miami Valley Hospital by CareFlight.
Cottrell is currently listed in critical condition at Miami Valley
Hospital.
This incident remains under investigation by the Darke County Sheriff’s
Office.
