Boehner
Recognizes Rossburg Fire Department
WASHINGTON, DC – Today, Congressman John Boehner (R-West Chester)
recognized the Rossburg Fire Department, which will receive $114,767 in
Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) to enhance their operations and
enable them to obtain critical life-saving equipment.
“Congratulations to the Rossburg Fire Department,” Boehner said. “It is
vital that our local fire departments have the resources they need to
safely serve our communities. I was happy to assist them, and I thank
all our emergency responders and volunteers for their hard work on
behalf of the families, farmers, and residents in Darke County.”
Rep. Boehner assisted the Rossburg Fire Department in securing grant
funding from the Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency
Management Agency (FEMA), so they are able to purchase new equipment,
such as new turnout gear and self-contained breathing apparatus units
for its members.
The AFG grant program is dedicated to meeting the emergency response
needs of fire departments and other non-affiliated emergency medical
services organizations. This is a competitive grant program and the
awards are based on merit. The AFG grant has enabled fire departments
to obtain the necessary equipment, protective gear, emergency vehicles,
training and other resources needed to protect emergency responders and
the public from fire and other related hazards.
