Brown visits
Darke County’s All-American Clothing
Brown is a Strong Supporter of American Manufacturing and Introduced
Legislation that would Strengthen the American Textile Supply Chain
ARCANUM, OH – U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) visited All-American
Clothing in Darke County today. In addition to meeting with workers and
company leadership, he toured the facility, which produces jeans and
apparel made in the U.S.
“The U.S. has a rich history of apparel manufacturing,” Brown said.
“All-American Clothing returns to those roots by producing quality
products and keeping jobs here in Ohio. But we need to make it easier
for companies like All-American Clothing to create jobs and grow
operations here. That’s why I’m working to ensure American
manufacturers can stay competitive and out-innovate the rest of the
world.”
Brown is a strong supporter of American manufacturing and a long-time
champion of “buy American” provisions. Last year, Brown introduced the
Wear American Act, legislation that would strengthen the American
textile supply chain, creating jobs and benefiting local businesses by
requiring all textile products purchased by federal agencies to be made
in the United States. Current law only requires federal agencies to
purchase textile products that are 51 percent American made, but
Brown’s bill would require all textile products purchased by federal
agencies to be made in the United States.
In December 2014, Brown’s manufacturing jobs legislation to create the
first-ever national network of manufacturing hubs was signed into law.
Cosponsored by U.S. Sen. Roy Blunt (R-MO), the Revitalize American
Manufacturing and Innovation Act (RAMI) will establish a National
Network of Manufacturing Innovation (NNMI) and create thousands of
high-paying, high-tech manufacturing jobs while enhancing the United
States’ role as the world’s leader in advanced manufacturing.
