Young… A Film
Festival Finalist From Kate Young
When an idea first makes its way into your head there are so many
questions to be answered and logistics to figure out. The work
involved in taking an idea to a substantial state is always more than
you originally anticipate. But the feeling of creating something,
having people take your idea and make it into reality-- it's a high
like no other. I've had a love for film making since I can
remember. Presque is my fourth film production and is the
keystone in my high school filmmaking adventure. The middle of
February marked the start of production for my film, Presque.
Greenville model Taylor Huffman and fellow filmmaker Tyler Landis,
starred in my fourteen minute short. Local businesses including
The Coffee Pot, Eikenberry's, Savage Used Books, Montage, and The Darke
County Parks generously gave me permission to film in their
space.
Presque is about moments in time, how a slight change can make a world
of difference. It's about how an everyday chain of events leads
to two people falling in love.
Presque has been chosen as one of the ten finalist to be shown in the
10th annual Phantoscope Film Festival. Phantoscope is a High
School film festival put on by the Richmond Art Museum. Presque
will be shown with the other finalist on Sunday, April 10th at the
Indiana State Museum.
