Darke County
Fair Steak and Chop Tent
Sam Custer
OSU Extension, Darke County
The Darke County Steak and Chop Tent began its operation 25 years ago
as a Cattlemen's Association fundraiser for one night of the
fair. It has morphed over the years to a multi species and
organizations five day fundraiser.
The mission is to serve a high quality product to visitors of The Great
Darke County Fair and to put the profits back in the county, primarily
through the youth exhibiting at the fair.
A special thank you goes out to Dudley and Sharon Lipps who have
directed operation since its inception and continue to do so.
Please continue to support this undertaking by logging in to or
clicking on go.osu.edu/steakandchop and sign up for as many 2
hour shifts that you can. After checking all the slots you want to work
click on the submit and signup button and follow the prompts.
In the comments section please list the name of your species or
organization, i.e., BEEF, SWINE, DAIRY, SHEEP, Versailles FFA, Farm
Credit Mid America, Farmers State, Merchants Bank, etc. This is what
will be used to help guide the distribution of profits.
Thank you in advance for your willingness to help and to make Darke
County what it is.

This week’s CORN Newsletter can be found at
http://agcrops.osu.edu/newsletter/corn-newsletter/2016-23/full. You
will find an article on tassel ear in corn. This is a result of
finding a field of corn near Gettysburg with an unusually large number
of this.
