Two separate
2-vehicle accidents at SR 118 and Horatio Harris Creek
On June 27, 2016 at 2:06 PM Darke County Deputies along with Greenville
Township Rescue, Greenville Township Fire, Careflight and Mutual Aid
from Ansonia Rescue were dispatched to the intersection of SR 118 and
Horatio Harris Creek Road in reference to a 2-vehicle accident with one
of the vehicles on its side with entrapment.
Preliminary investigation revealed a blue 2012 Toyota Prius driven by
Zachary W. Musick, 31, Ashland, Kentucky was westbound on Horatio
Harris Creek Rd. and stopped at the posted stop sign at SR 118. Musick
proceeded to cross SR 118 being struck by a northbound red 2009 Ford
Explorer driven by Debra J. Weist, 58, Rossburg, Ohio who had the right
of way. Both Musick and Weist vehicles went off the west side of SR
118. The Weist vehicle over turned onto its side in the ditch. Weist
was trapped in the vehicle for a short time. Musick vehicle came
to rest in a corn field.
Musick was transported to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight and is
listed in stable condition. Weist was transferred to Wayne Healthcare,
her condition is unknown at this time.
At 2:11 PM report of another 2-vehicle accident at this same location
came in.
Investigation revealed a westbound 2013 blue Toyota Prius driven by
Joseph Franklin 26, Ft. Wayne IN was westbound on Horatio Harris Creek
Rd. Franklin drove around a semi -tractor and trailer that was stopped
on Horatio Harris Creek Rd. for the prior accident. Framlin proceeded
across the intersection of SR 118 being struck by a northbound semi
tractor and trailer driven by Derrick Gump 28, Greenville, OH who had
the right of way. No injuries were reported in this accident.
