Faber tours
Edison DCC on launch of Agribusiness Program
COLUMBUS - Senate President Keith Faber (R-Celina) met yesterday with
Edison State faculty, staff and students as well as local business and
community leaders at the college's Evening Affair Open House at the
Darke County campus. State Senator Bill Beagle (R-Tipp City) and
Department of Agriculture Director David Daniels also attended.
The event featured a tour of the campus and highlighted several new
initiatives such as a new agribusiness program.
"I'm grateful for the investment Edison State is making in Darke
County," said Faber. "Because of their vision and leadership,
educational opportunities are being created that mirror the economic
needs of our community. I'm particularly excited about the launch of
their new agribusiness program. It's a testament to the partnership
between our local schools, businesses and government to equip Ohioans
with the tools they need to be successful."
The Senate, under the leadership of Faber, has significantly increased
funding to Ohio's public colleges and universities, while also
prioritizing opportunities to reduce student costs and barriers to
receiving an excellent, but affordable education. Edison State received
over $1.8 million in the state's capital budget this year for
improvements and renovations.
"It is rewarding to see the support for Edison State from the
community, the region and the state that was evident at this event,"
said Edison State President Doreen Larson. "Our faculty and staff work
hard every day to ensure a quality education at an affordable cost, and
this event was a great opportunity to celebrate their efforts and to
thank our elected officials for their advocacy and partnership."
Courses in the new agribusiness program at Edison State's Darke County
campus began this year, and the program will be fully developed by the
fall of 2017.
