Whirlpool Hosts
Area Students During National Manufacturing Day
Whirlpool Corporation's Greenville Operations was pleased to host two
groups of students last Friday, October 7 for National Manufacturing
Day.
Tri Village High School and Greenville High School were both given a
guided tour of the plant, shown Manufacturing Day presentations on
careers in modern manufacturing, shown a video about the Greenville
plant and then had time for a Q & A session with Greenville Plant
Lead Ken Hossler. Both groups of students were very engaged and asked
thought questions.
In the face of a widening skills gap, Whirlpool Corporation has been a
champion of investing in its skilled workforce to ensure manufacturing
jobs can remain in America. The company offers on-site apprenticeship
programs at multiple manufacturing locations to develop the skills
required to support the implementation of factory automation and other
disruptive technologies.
National Manufacturing Day addresses common misperceptions about
manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their
doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and
what it isn’t. Manufacturing Day gives manufacturers the opportunity to
address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future
generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and
ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.
