COLUMBUS - State Senators Matt Huffman (R-Lima) and Bill Beagle (R-Tipp City) today recognized the Greenville Career Technology Center auto tech team for winning the 2017 National SkillsUSA Competition in Louisville, Kentucky earlier this summer.

"I am pleased to recognize students from the Greenville Technology Center today for their determination and talents in this years national SkillsUSA competition," said Huffman. "They have represented our community and their school well. It is critically important for us to showcase these kinds of accomplishments, in doing so, we highlight the value of these skills which meet Ohio's 21st century workforce needs."

“Our ability to prepare Ohio's next generation of skilled workers, to fill in-demand jobs, ranks among the most pressing challenges facing our state,” said Beagle. “Programs like SkillsUSA are making a difference, strengthening these students' ability to compete in Ohio’s growing economy."

More than 6,000 career and technical education students competed in 100 different trade, technical and leadership fields. Students work against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in occupations such as electronics, computer-aided drafting, precision machining, medical assisting and culinary arts.
