Draft Overview of
Ohio’s State ESSA Plan Released
After a year of engaging with more than 15,000 of Ohio’s educators,
parents and community members about their vision for our state’s
educational system, the Ohio Department of Education has released the
draft overview of Ohio’s State Plan for the Every Student Succeeds Act.
The draft overview can be found by clicking here
The draft overview provides a framework for the final plan that Ohio
will submit in April to the U.S. Department of Education. The plan will
cover several important aspects of Ohio’s education system, including
Academic Standards, Assessments, Accountability and School Improvement,
among others.
The Ohio Department of Education invites the public to review and
comment on the overview. The full draft of the plan will be released in
early February, with a comment period open through March 6. Input will
continue to be incorporated throughout the development of the final
Ohio plan.
Ohio’s plan takes a detailed look at the state’s education system and
makes important improvements based on the feedback of our stakeholders
and requirements in the law.
