DCSF awards five
scholarships for 2017-18
GREENVILLE – The Darke County Scholarship Fund has awarded five
scholarships for 2017-18. Recipients this year are Seryn Crawford,
Nicole Manges, Will McCabe, Dalton Walls, and Kate Young.
Seryn Crawford, a 2016 graduate from Greenville High School, is
attending Ball State University for Dietetics. She is a 2016 and 2017
Al and Barbara Greiner scholarship recipient from DCSF. Seryn is the
daughter of Merilee and Donald Beisner.
Nicole Manges is a 2014 graduate of Greenville High School. She is
pursuing a degree in English Literature and Writing at Huntington
University, with a goal of becoming a publications editor. Nicole is
the daughter of Brian and Diana Manges. She received the SSSF Senior
Scribes scholarship in 2014 and 2015, and the DCSF scholarship in 2016
and 2017.
Will McCabe is a 2014 graduate of Greenville High School. He is
pursuing a major in Creative Writing and a double-minor in
Communication and Psychology from Ohio Northern University. While he
has not yet pinned down a seminary, he will pursue a Master of Divinity
immediately after graduating. He received the Al and Barbara Greiner
Scholarship in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017. Will is the son of Mitch
& Minetta McCabe.
Dalton Walls is a 2017 graduate of Greenville High School. He will
pursue a degree in the field of business at Wilmington University.
Dalton is the son of Bruce Walls. Active in both FFA and 4H, Dalton
received DCSF’s Bistro Off Broadway Scholarship. This is the fifth year
Bistro Off Broadway has sponsored a DCSF scholarship.
Kate Young is a 2017 Union City Homeschool graduate. She will pursue a
Telecommunications degree at Ball State University. Kate is the
daughter of Dan and Michelle Young. Among Kate’s accomplishments were a
Best Picture and Best Screenplay at Indiana’s Phantoscope Film Festival
and Student Best of Show for Photography. She received the DCSF 2017
scholarship.
This is the final presentation of scholarships for the Darke County
Scholarship Fund. The organization first awarded scholarships as the
Senior Scribes Scholarship Fund in 2009. Since then, 50 students have
benefitted from 72 scholarship awards totaling nearly $72,000.
