Representative Steve Huffman
National Prescription
Drug Take Back Day
COLUMBUS—State Representative Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) encouraged
constituents in the 80th district to participate in National
Prescription Drug Take Back Day, April 28 at participating locations.
The nationwide initiative provides an opportunity for citizens to
safely and conveniently dispose of unused or expired medications.
The Ohio Department of Health reported in 2016 that the rate of
unintentional death from prescription drugs in Ohio has been on a
decline for the past few years. It is crucial that Ohioans are aware of
the resources available to continue lowering that rate. As it is
reported that many who abuse prescription drugs obtain those drugs from
the home of a friend or relative, National Prescription Drug Take Back
Day aims to provide safe and responsible ways to dispose of old or
unused medication.
In Representative Huffman’s district, the take-back locations were:
Greenville Police Department - 122 W Main Street, Greenville, OH 45331
Darke County Sherriff’s Office - 5185 County Home Road, Greenville, OH
45331
Darke County Family Health Services - 5735 Meeker Road, Greenville, OH
45331
Miami County Sheriff’s Office - 201 W Main Street, Troy, OH 45373
Miami County Transfer Station - 2500 N. Co. Road 25A, Troy, OH 45373
Piqua Police Department - 100 N. Wayne Street, Piqua, OH 45356
Many locations will continue to accept old or unused medications
throughout the year.
“Prescription drug abuse has played a major role in the state’s current
opioid crisis,” said Huffman. “I encourage all local residents to take
advantage of this opportunity to safely dispose of prescription drugs
you may no longer need.”
Law enforcement officers and pharmacy employees may be present at
take-back locations to assist. Participating locations can be found
