Arcanum 7th grader places in Junior High Individual
GREENVILLE – Alivia Ellis, 12-year-old seventh grader from Arcanum,
placed second in the Junior High Individual event during Friday’s Darke
County Fair cheerleading competition. She has been cheerleading for
three years and has been in one other competition, also placing second
in that event.
“I really enjoy it,” she said, “even though it takes a lot of work.”
She said she’d been working on her routine one to two hours daily for
four months. “It’s hard work, but it’s also fun. I think my best move
is the tumbling.” Tumbling was a major part of her 3-minute performance.
Ellis agreed with others that competition cheer is definitely a sport.
“It takes the same amount of work as other sports,” she said
The Arcanum seventh grader’s goal? “I want to be an OSU Cheerleader!” Her career plan is to be a cancer nurse.
