Darke County native, Jeff Nisonger dominated the opening
two days of harness racing. Of the 43 races
contested in those days,
Nisonger took 15 wins, placing him at the top of the leader board.

Over 40 races on first two days of harness racing… Nisonger dominates

GREENVILLE-The opening two days of harness at the Darke County Fair saw 43 races on the cards with 17 of the on opening night.
Coming as no surprise, it was Jeff Nisonger who stepped up and made it
known he was the driver to beat. Of the 17 races on Friday, Nisonger
took first place in nine of them, starting with the second race of the
night, a pace for two year old fillies.
Nisonger drove Mae Be Magic to the winners circle in a time of 2:00.3.
Nisonger also got victories in the 6th behind Jimmy Rae Lou, in the 7th
with Not The Norm, the 9th behind Harambe Deo, in the 10th with She Hit
The High Note, the 11th with Majestic Lexi. Nisonger also came in first
in the 14th, 16th and the 17th driving Treasure Those Chips in 2:02.
If nine wins on opening night wasn't enough, Nisonger picked up six
more wins on Saturday, recording 15 wins total in two days of harness
horse racing.
Another Darke County native, Chris Hope, got his first win on Friday in
the 3rd as he drove JD's Modest Man home in a pace in a time of 1:57.2.
Hopes Swenson win came Saturday in the early session when he took
Passion N Blues home in a time of 2:01.4 in the 4th. Hope scored
another win in the 5th with Beach Journey making that the final trip to
the winners circle for him.
Racing action will continue on Wednesday starting at 7:30 and will
culminate on Thursday with the Reigle Memorial and the Arnie Armahurst.
It will be the biggest purse ever for both events as the Riegle will
hold $50,000 and the Arnie will pay $25,000.
Racing action will start at 5:30 on Thursday.
