Fearon takes center stage at Swine Showman of Showman

GREENVILLE- The Darke County Fair swine arena was filled with
three girl exhibitors. The finalist from the day brought
down to just one exhibitor each from the junior class, intermediate
class and the senior class. Three girls competed for the elusive
Showman of Showman title and trophy. After a tense class of three
excellent exhibitors, Madelyn Fearon was chosen as Swine Showman of
Showman.
Fearon, a 10 year veteran of 4-H has taken a hog project every year to
the Great Darke County Fair. She is a dedicated member of Swine
Coolers and an Arcanum Sophomore. She was showing her hog “Steve”
and states, “I give credit to my family for the support they have given
me to get to this point.”
Two classes of 15 year old exhibitors, totaling 22 entries, are what Fearon battled to get to the final round.
In the senior class she had to beat the winners of the 16 year old, 17
year old and 18 year old showmanship classes. Despite being one
of the younger exhibitors, hard work prevailed and she won the right to
go into the final 3 and win the Showman of Showman trophy.
Fearon had words of advice to younger 4-H members. If you would like to
achieve success showing hogs then “Put work in at home. If you
put in the work at home and come out to have fun, you can achieve what
you want.” This positive attitude radiated from Fearon after her
big win.
Congratulations to Madelyn Fearon for becoming Darke County Fair’s 2019 Swine Showman of Showman winner.
