Comforting Comforters Donations Being
Accepted
Rachel (18) and Bridget (11) are on their 3rd seasonal campaign of
Comforting Comforters. It started almost exactly 1 year ago. Our local
and Facebook community has been very generous and they are asking for
your help again. If you can donate a small item, and if you are a
child, maybe even collect loose change to buy an item or two, we can
increase the help we give to these worthy causes in our county.
Collection boxes have been placed in 4 locations:
BLANKETS, HATS, SOCKS of all sizes FOR THE HOMELESS IN DARKE COUNTY can
be dropped off at: Tangles... a Unique Hair & Nail Salon and
Greenville Public Library (Ohio).
BLANKETS, STURDY DOG TOYS, COW HOOVES (DOG TREATS) FOR The Darke County
Animal Shelter and BARK Animal Rescue, Inc. can be dropped off at:
DeColores Montessori School of Greenville, Ohio, and Montage Café.
We are grateful for our generous business support. George! Unlimited,
Inc. was kind enough to store our collection boxes so we could re-use
what we had put together from the generosity of Lowe's Home Improvement
last year when they donated everything we needed to make the boxes.
If you want to donate to both causes, please drop all items in any of
the above boxes - label blankets for which cause you want them to go to.
ONLY NEW ITEMS WILL BE FORWARDED TO THE GROUPS WE ARE COLLECTING FOR.
USED ITEMS WILL BE DISCARDED. This is for safety and health reasons.
Thank you for understanding.
In the last year, the community has donated 154 blankets, 337 pairs of
socks, over 60 dog toys, summer cooling items for the dogs,
toothbrushes, toothpaste, non-perishable food items, cinch bags, 30
hats, feminine hygiene products, loose change from elementary aged kids
to donate to the shelter and BARK, deodorants, and numerous other items
through these collection efforts. Even at Bridget's 11 year birthday
party her friends brought dog toys in lieu of gifts.
Never doubt the power that kids have to be a light for the world. They
can make big changes in small ways.
Amazon Wish Lists have also been set up for those who prefer to donate
without making a special trip into town. Wish List links can be
found on the Facebook Page called Comforting Comforters (look for the
pinned post for direct links and details).
Donations benefit those in Darke County and are distributed through
Community Action Partnership, The Darke County Animal Shelter and BARK
Animal Rescue. Comforting Comforters was founded in December 2017
and since that time has collected over 150 blankets, over 300 pairs of
socks, numerous dog toys, hundreds of hygiene products for the
homeless, as well as non perishable single-serve food items through
collection efforts in businesses and through donations in lieu of
birthday gifts for the Unger girls.
