Charles W. “Butch” George
Charles
W. “Butch” George, age 75, formerly of Rossburg, Ohio, passed away on
Tuesday, August 09, 2011 at 2:35 AM at Versailles Health Care Center,
Versailles, Ohio. He was born on July 15, 1936 in Darke County,
Ohio, to the late Earl “Jim” & Marie (Meiring) George.
Butch was a heavy equipment operator retiring after
50 years of service with the International Union of Operating Engineers
Local 18. He started working with De Salvo Construction Company
and then retiring from Danis Construction. He was a lifetime
member of the NRA. A member of the National Bison Association
having raised buffalo over 25 years.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death
by his grandparents, Charles “Butch” & Mary Kay (Chappie) George
and William & Amelia (Zumbrink) Meiring; sister in law, Marilyn
George; brother in law, Don Harris.
He is survived by his sisters and brother in law,
Evelyn Mann of Greenville, OH, Millie Harris of Ft. Wayne, IN, and Pat
& Ray Doss of Greenville, OH; brothers and sisters in law, John
George of Plentywood, MT, Bill George of Versailles, OH, Mike &
Paula George of Sidney, OH, Dale & Diana George of Versailles, OH,
Paul & Rose George of Sunburst, MT; Fiancée, Marlene Long of
Rossburg, OH; 25 nieces and nephews; as well as numerous great nieces
and nephews.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial held on
Monday, August 15, 2011 at 10:30 AM at St. Louis Catholic Church, North
Star, Ohio, with Rev. Fr. David Zink celebrant. Burial will
follow in the St. Louis Catholic Church Cemetery. Family will
receive friends on Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 3-8 PM at Zechar Bailey
Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, as well as one hour prior to the
service at church.
It is the wishes of the family that memorial
contributions be given to the American Alzheimer’s Association or State
of the Heart Hospice.
