Charlene Lavonne Hetzel

Mrs. Charlene Lavonne Hetzel, age 84 of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:20 P.M. Tuesday March 22, 2011 at the Heartland Nursing Home of Greenville.  She was born June 10, 1926 in Anderson, Indiana and the daughter of the late Lawrence & Beulah (Melson) Shaw.

Charlene retired in 1982 from the Greenville City Schools where she had been employed as a cook.  She was a member of the Greenville Evangelical United Methodist Church, and also a member of the VFW and American Legion Ladies Auxiliary both of Greenville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Lewis Hetzel March 7, 2009.  They were married June 22, 1946.  Also by her sons Mark Lee and Greg Lewis Hetzel; Brothers Jim and Roger Melson.

Charlene is survived by a son and daughter in law Max Kent and Carolyn Hetzel of Greencastle, Ind.; grandchildren Ashley (Jenny) Adkins of Greencastle, Ind., Melissa (Roger) Droste of North Carolina and Shannon Hetzel of Merritt Island, Florida.  There are 7 great grandchildren and brothers Larry Shaw of East Wenatchee, Washington, Jerry Shaw of West Milton, Ohio and Sister Donna Jaynes of Anderson, Indiana.  As well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday March 25, 2011 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio with Rev. John McRoberts officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 11:00 A.M. until time of the services in the funeral home.

It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to Heartland Nursing Home or Heartland Hospice of Greenville.
