Thelma I. Shives
Mrs. Thelma I. Shives, age 104 of Greenville, Ohio passed away on
Sunday March 13, 2011 at 12:50 PM at her residence. She was born
March 8, 1907 in Darke County, Ohio the daughter of the late Sherman W.
& Gertrude (Cashman) Baird. She was the owner\operator of
Thelma’s Beauty Shop which she opened in 1932.
She was a member of First Congregational Christian
Church, Grandmothers Club, a 1925 graduate of Greenville High School
and the next year she took a cosmetology course, she was a volunteer at
Wayne Hospital, served on the hospital auxiliary knitting caps, she
received a 30 year pin for working in the hospital gift shop, & she
was an avid gardener and loved flowers.
She is preceded in death by her parents; 1st
Husband: Robert Plessinger; 2nd Husband: Jack Shives;
Brothers: John, James, & Don Baird; Sister: Vera
(Baird) Coppess.
She is survived by her son: Michael R.
Plessinger of Greenville; Grandchildren: Michael R. Plessinger
II, Jonathan Plessinger, Roger Ewing, Sean Plessinger, Christina
Averbeck, Scotty Plessinger; 9 Great Grandchildren; Sister: Joan
Coovert of Greenville; & numerous nieces & nephews.
Services will be held on Friday March 18, 2011 at
1:30 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio with Rev. Don
Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville
Cemetery. Family will receive friends from 5:00 to 8:00 PM on
Thursday March 17, 2011 at the funeral home. The family would
like to give special thanks to State of the Heart Hospice especially
Debbie (Nurse) & Stacey (Aide). Memorial contributions may be
made to State of the Heart Hospice.
