Edith E. Brandt
Edith E. Brandt age 94 of Brock, Ohio. Our mother’s body is no longer
on this land we love so much. Her last breath was on Friday, May 6,
2011 at 6:42. P.M. at Wayne Health Care (Greenville Hospital) as her
family gathered at her bedside. You could hear laughter, see faces full
of sorrow and hear stories of years filled with precious memories. The
sweet stories were told of a grandmothers love that had no
boundaries-no self concern. Our mouths watered as we talked about the
wonderful food she always fed us whether it be at breakfast, a lunch
taken out into the fields under a hot sun or a feast at every holiday.
Edith was born July 20, 1916 to the late Edward & Sophie (Deubner)
Border.
She was the late Arthur Brandt’s wife and what a
proud wife she was! She wrote and typed his speeches for all of dad’s
events. She canned his favorite foods; plums, pears, tomato juice, last
of the garden, green beans. She kept the cellar stocked for the entire
winter and everyone took joy in a canned good from mom.
She was president of various clubs and
organizations. She sang in the choir. She was outgoing-she loved
people! She had passion for gardening, jewelry, clothes and “stuff”.
She hung her windows with chimes, butterflies and flower stick-ons. She
collected Gone with the Wind items, elephants and filled her home with
whimsy.
Edith is survived by her sons &
daughters-in-law, John & Nancy Brandt of Versailles and James &
Linda Brandt of Versailles; daughters & sons-in-law, Liz & Ash
Rothlein of North Carolina, and Linda & Dennis Foley of Columbus;
41 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren
will keep her spirit alive through generations to come.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 11,
2011 at 12:00 P.M. at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles with
Pastor Dennis Wheeler officiating. Burial will follow in Brock Cemetery
in Brock. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 A.M.
