Norma G. Whittaker
Norma G. Whittaker, 95, of Greenville, passed away Wednesday afternoon,
May 18, 2011 at the Oakley House in Greenville.
She was born December 10, 1915 in Darke County, daughter of the late
Alonzo and Nancy (Royer) Eley. In addition to her parents she was
preceded in death by her brothers, Richard, Russell, Robert, and Donald
Eley; and her sister's Erma Beatty, Evelyn Bowers, and Juanita Baker.
Norma had retired in 1978 having taught for several years in the
Versailles and New Madison School Districts. She was also a longtime
member of the New Madison United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 26 years, Everett Whittaker, whom she
married August 11, 1984; a son, Stephen L. Sink; a daughter, Joan
Anderson; step children, Shirley Perez, Shelia McGuire, Sherry Garbig,
and Jacqueline Soper; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren,
great great grandchildren, step grandchildren, step great
grandchildren; step great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and
nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 21, at the Oliver-Floyd
Funeral Home in Greenville with the Rev. Steve Hayes officiating.
Burial will follow in the Abbottsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12
p.m. till 2 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be
given to State of the Heart Hospice.
