Mary J. Blackburn
Mary J. Blackburn, 94, of Greenville and formerly of Ansonia, passed
away Tuesday morning, September 20, 2011 at Rest Haven Nursing Home in
Greenville.
She was born January 30, 1917 in West Milton, daughter of the late
George W. and Grace Mary (Wissinger) Karns. In addition to her parents
she was preceded in death by her husband, Morris R. “Happy” Blackburn
in 2005; a son, Benny R. Blackburn in 1958; brothers, Forest and Jack
Karns; and sisters, Helen Sebring and Betty Thompson.
Mary had retired from Fram in Greenville after working there 25
years. She was a member of Greenville Missionary Church.
She is survived by her children, Shirley (Gene) Yohey of Greenville,
Carol Close of Ansonia, Connie (George) Harling of Celina, Becky (John)
Klipstine of Ansonia, Kenny L. Blackburn of Ansonia, and Steve (Carrie)
Blackburn of Minster; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and
great great grandchildren; a brother, Tom Karns of Laura; sisters,
Mabel Dearth of Eaton, Susan Hilton of West Milton, and June Walker of
Pleasant Hill; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 23, at the
Greenville Missionary Church with Pastor Gary Oser officiating. Burial
will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in West Milton.
The family will receive friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in
Greenville, Thursday from 5-8 p.m. and Friday at the Greenville
Missionary Church from 9:30 till time of services at 10:30. The family
requests that memorial contributions be given to Greenville Missionary
Church.
