Robert L. “Bob” Gray
Robert L. “Bob” Gray, age 92, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on
Sunday, July 8, 2012, at 7:05 AM at the Brethren Retirement Community
in Greenville, Ohio. He was born on September 13, 1919 in Straight
Creek, Kentucky, to the late Jasper & Bitha (Leath) Gray.
He is survived by his sons and daughters in law, Dillard Lee &
Connie Gray of Allen, Texas and Tony Lee & Katie Gray of Tampa,
Florida; daughters and sons in law, Juanita & Randy Thomas of
Decatur, Tennessee, and Stella Louise & Richard Fasanelli of
Sarasota, Florida; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 step
granddaughter; 2 step grandsons; 3 step great grandchildren; as well as
numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his
wife, Marbie Jean (Bain) Gray whom he married on August 25, 1945; son,
Dennis Gray, granddaughter, Shannon Ranee; brothers, J.T. Gray and
Oliver Gray; sisters, Lucy Garland, Hassie Fike, Mary Cooper and Otie
Hardy.
Robert retired on November 1, 1981 from ALCOA--Aluminum
Company of America in Richmond, Indiana, where he had been employed for
27 years. He was a member of the United States Army serving in World
War II and was also a member of the Faith Baptist Church and American
Legion in Greenville.
There will be a service held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at
10:00 AM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor
Bill Baker officiating. Burial will follow in the Hollansburg Cemetery,
Hollansburg, Ohio. Family will receive friends on Friday, July 13, 2012
from 5-7 PM at the funeral home. There will be a graveside military
service conducted by the Greenville Veterans Honor Guard.
