Harold W. Holmes
Harold W. Holmes age 91, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 9:15 P.M.
on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at his residence. Harold was born August
8, 1921 in Germantown, Ohio to the late Stanley & Hattie Holmes.
Harold is survived by his wife of 72 years, Cathleen (Price) Holmes
whom he married August 10, 1940; daughter, Marcia Garland of
Greenville; step grandchildren, Bill Garland, Bradley Joe Garland and
Gina Trobridge; 8 step great grandchildren and 2 step great great
grandchildren; brothers, Tom Holmes of North Carolina, Nick Holmes of
North Carolina, Jack Holmes of Virginia, Willie Holmes of Virginia,
David Holmes of Virginia, Ray Holmes of Louisiana, Bobby Holmes of
Dayton, Ohio and Russell Holmes of Dayton, Ohio; sisters, Connie of
Florida, Juanita of Louisiana and Delores Ann Martin of Virginia; and
numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harold is also preceded in death by an
infant, Marion Holmes; brothers, Carl, Richard, Stanley Jr., Phil and
Ralph Holmes; and a sister, Marylou.
Harold served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Harold is retired from
Del-Mar Cabinet Company in Union City, Indiana where he was a
cabinetmaker. Harold was a Life Member of the V.F.W. in Greenville. He
attended the Hollansburg Christian Church in Hollansburg.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Thursday, November 29,
2012 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Joe Hanna
officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Ft.
Jefferson. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 to
8:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Full Military Honors will be conducted
by the Greenville Veteran’s Honor Guard. Condolences for the family may
