Dorothea Mae Holland
Dorothea Mae Holland, age 83, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on
Friday, June 14, 2013 at 5:15 PM at Heartland of Greenville,
Greenville, Ohio. She was born on February 14, 1930 in Richmond,
Indiana, to the late Ralph and Ruth (Eppse) Nickens.
She is survived by her daughters and son in law, Bonnie (Mark) McCown
and Robin (Len) Baker both of Greenville, Ohio; son David Ford of
Columbus, Ohio; grandchildren, Jantzen Baker, Brittany Baker and Brie
McCown; great grandchildren, Jaylen Baker and Maddie Baker; as well as
several nieces and nephews.
Dorothea was a homemaker and attended the Bethel Long Church in
Longtown. She was a caring, devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother.
Dorothea always thought she was blessed to have had the opportunity to
be involved in the lives of her great granddaughters for 9 years. For
many years she took an active role in her community special events and
activities. Her infectious sense of humor and loving smile attracted
many wonderful friends throughout her life.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband,
William “Bill” Holland whom she married on July 9, 1949; sister, Betty
Hinton and brother, Melvin Nickens.
There will be a graveside service held on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at
2:30 PM at Bass Cemetery, Darke County, Ohio, with Pastor Pam King
officiating. There will be no public visitation.
Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey Funeral Home,
Greenville, Ohio.
