Margaret Catherine Gerlach, age 88, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on
Sunday, May 5, 2013 at 7:55 AM at the Brethren Retirement Community,
Greenville, Ohio. She was born on November 18, 1924 in Union
City, Indiana, to the late Paul & Jessie (Jackson) Geyer.
She is survived by her children, Jesse Burke of London, Ohio, Michael
& Lauri Gerlach of Sayner, Wisconsin, Karen (Harry Bogan) Barhorst
of Greenville and Angie & Jay Harmeson of Greenville;
grandchildren, James, David, Mike, Steve, and Danny Burke, Erich and
Doug Gerlach, Michaela Barhorst, Nick Howard, Mahala Howard and
Jacqueline Altizer; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her first
husband, Leo Mock on August 19, 1945; second husband, Anthony M.
Gerlach on May 3, 1976 whom she married on April 2, 1949; son, Jerome
Gerlach; brothers, Robert and James Geyer; and sisters, Mary Howard and
Pauline Jennings.
Margaret was a homemaker and a former member of St. Mary’s Catholic
Church and Rosary Altar Society. She loved dogs, cats and
watching the news. She was dedicated to her family and was a very
kind souled person.
There will be a graveside service held on Thursday, May 9, 2013 at
11:30 AM at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio, with Pastor
Sylvia McKibben officiating. There will be no public
visitation. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey
Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
