Henry W. Schafer
Henry W. Schafer, 86, of Greenville, passed away Tuesday afternoon,
November 26, 2013 at the Rest Haven Nursing Home in Greenville.
He was born March 26, 1927 in Darke County, son of the late Gerald S.
and Mabel G. (Michael) Schafer.
A veteran of the US Marine Corps, Henry had spent most of his life
farming. After retirement he worked as a carry out for Eikenberry's
IGA. He was a member of the Greenville Missionary Church, the Moose,
Eagles, and American Legion all in Greenville.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, P. Clarabelle (Bixler) Schafer,
whom he married October 25, 1945; a daughter, Georgianna (Marvin)
Crawford of Greenville; a son, Harold (Judy) Schafer of Greenville;
grandchildren, Laura Bryson, Paullette Kennedy, Kathy Hatch, and
Bradley Hatch; 9 great grandchildren; a brother, Richard Schafer of
Mansfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will at 11:30 a.m. Monday, December 2, at the Oliver-Floyd
Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Gary Oser officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Greenville Township Memorial Gardens
Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:30 a.m.
till 11:30 a.m.. The family requests that memorial contributions be
given to the State of the Heart Hospice or the Resident Aid Fund at
Rest Haven Nursing Home.
