Mary Catherine Wilson
Mary Catherine Wilson, 86, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away Tuesday
morning, April 15, 2014 at Oakley Place in Greenville.
She was born July 26, 1927, in Greenville, daughter of the late Harold
Lehman and Edna Marie (McCabe) Wilson. In addition to her parents
she was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Ethel Marie
(Wilson) and Fred Stephan; a niece, Connie Fetzer; and a nephew, Ronald
Stephan.
Mary Catherine had owned and operated the former Brateman's Women Wear
in Greenville from 1977 to 1990. A 1945 graduate of Greenville High
School, she was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville,
and the Business Professional Woman Association in which she had served
as president, Darke County Republican Party in which she was named
Republican of the Year in 2002. She was also a member of the Ft.
Greenville D.A.R., the Darke County McGuffie Club, Rebekah Lodge #266,
the Darke County Chamber of Commerce having served on the Board of
Directors, and she loved to play the organ.
Mary Catherine was the first write-in candidate to win election to the
Greenville City Council in 1983. She had authored a book called
"Broadway Memories". In retirement, she loved to travel and take bus
trips.
She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Carol A. (Mike) Denton of
Lynn, IN, James Fetzer of Clarkston, MI, Jackie Stephan of Lynn, IN;
and great nieces and nephews, Lanett, Jerimy, Elizabeth, Sarah, and
Aaron; great great nieces, Morgan and Kaibre; a very good friend, Norma
Knick; and several cousins and close friends.
Services will be held Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the
Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville, OH with Pastor Peter Menke
officiating. Burial will follow in the Greenville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 a.m. till
the time of service. The family request that memorial
contribution be given to either the St. Paul's Lutheran Church or State
of the Heart Hospice.
