Rhoades
Franklin Guthrie Rhoades, age 93, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on
Friday, February 14, 2014 at 7:00 AM at State of the Heart Hospice Care
Center, Greenville, Ohio. He was born on February 5, 1921 in
Ansonia, Ohio, to the late Chester Rhoades and Florence (Guthrie)
Wright.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Ann (Wallace) Rhoades of Greenville,
Ohio, as well as his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, step
children and step grandchildren.
Frank retired as a Colonel after 30 years in the United States Air
Force. He was pilot, pilot instructor and served during the
Berlin Airlift as well as the Vietnam War. He was a 72 year
member of the Greenville Masonic Lodge #143 and the former Ansonia
Masonic Lodge #488. Also was a member of Antioch Shrine, Dayton and the
Darke County Shrine Club. He was also a member of the American Legion
and VFW of Greenville. He loved woodworking, riding motorcycles,
big band music and playing the organ and trumpet. After
graduating from high school he played the trumpet for a dance band
before starting his career in the United States Air Force.
The Greenville Veterans Honor Guard will be conducting a service on
Friday, February 21, 2014 at 2:30 PM at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home,
Greenville, Ohio, with a Masonic Memorial Service conducted by the
Greenville Masonic Lodge immediately following the military
service. There will be a private burial held at the convenience
of the family in the Greenville Cemetery, Greenville, Ohio. The
family will receive friends on Friday, February 21, 2014 from 2:00-2:30
PM at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers it is the wishes of the family that memorial
contributions be given to the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or State
