James B. Shiverdecker
James B. Shiverdecker, 80, of Greenville, passed away Sunday morning,
February 23, 2014, at the Brethren Retirement Community in Greenville.
He was born October 2, 1933 in Greenville, son of the late Charles and
Nellie (Henkaline) Shiverdecker. In addition to his parents he was
preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Thurman and Imogene
Shiverdecker.
Jim had served his Lord in many capacities. He was retired from
Hobart/Whirlpool where he had worked for 42 years. He was a
member of the Greenville Church of the Nazarene, a veteran of the US
Army, and his favorite lifetime hobby of fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Marlene (Swallow) Shiverdecker,
whom he married March 2, 1952; children, Bevin (Donna) Shiverdecker of
Mt. Vernon, OH, Melina (Larry) Eberst of Greenville, and Joel (Julie)
Shiverdecker of Indian Trail, NC; grandchildren, Kelsi (Tim) Tomayko,
Kelly Shiverdecker, Adam Shiverdecker, and a step granddaughter, Chris
(Paul) Nehring.
Private services with full military honors by the Greenville Veterans
Honor Guard will be held at a later date with burial to follow in the
Brock Cemetery.
There will be no public visitation. The family requests that memorial
contributions be given to the Greenville Church of the Nazarene.
