Donald M. Isenhouer
Donald M. Isenhouer, 93, of Versailles, OH, passed away Saturday,
January 18, 2014 at Sterling House of Greenville.
He was born March 11, 1920 in Arba, IN, a son of the late Ray and Mary
Isenhouer.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife,
of 28 years, Caroline (Stuck) Isenhouer; three sisters, Marjorie
Hoffman, Katherine Wills and Louise Fourman.
Donald was a veteran of the United State Army and served during WWII.
He was a member of the Greenville VFW and St. Paul Lutheran Church in
North Star, OH. Donald was a lifelong farmer. He worked for 17 years
for the State Highway Department before retiring. He was a
Jack-of-all-trades; he was a carpenter, truck driver, brick mason and
factory worker. He left home to join the circus as a teenager and
eventually realized his dream of being a clown with his friend, John
Oliver, whose mother created clown costumes for them. They then
participated in Versailles Poultry Days parades for many years. He
enjoyed making people smile.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Mary K. (Billenstein)
Isenhouer; four children, Jane Allread and Mark Isenhouer, both of
Greenville, OH, Beverly (Ron) Grillot of Rossburg, OH and Richard
Billenstein of Ansonia, OH; a brother, David Isenhouer of Greenville,
OH; five grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.
Services will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, January 24, 2014 at St. Paul
Lutheran Church in North Star, OH, with Pastor Laura Shreffler
officiating.
Burial, with full military honors, will follow in Brock Cemetery
The family will be receiving friends at the Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home
in Greenville, Thursday, January 23, 2014, from 5 - 7 PM and again one
hour prior to the funeral at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made St. Paul Lutheran Church.
