Rosalie Winhold
A Life Well Lived.
August 4, 1934-----July 16, 2014

Rosalie Winhold was born August 4, 1934, the 10th child, to Peter and Antje Derksen in the area of Zanesfield Ohio.

Her childhood was encapsulated by the depression and World War II, in which her family experienced the traumatic loss of her brother Pete, who was killed in action in the Navy.

She asked Jesus into her heart and became a Christian at the age of 15 with the assistance and advice of Mrs. Francis Huber (Aunt Franny, to all of us Winhold kids) She was Mom's dearest life-long friend and neighbor.  Rosalie joined the Baptist Church in Bellefontaine, Ohio and she attended Bellefontaine High School.

In the mid-1950s Rosalie was accepted into Nyack Missionary College in Nyack, New York where she graduated and she initially felt God's plan for her was to be a young missionary.  Then she met a dashing young Sailor, Don Winhold, who looked a lot like the young Frank Sinatra, she used to say. Don became her life-time friend, partner in sharing the gospel, and husband.  They had an exquisitely unique relationship the rest of their lives.

Upon the end of the Korean War, Dad, Don Winhold, having completed his US Navy tour of duty, married Rosalie and also attended Nyack Missionary College where they had Laura Sue and Michael Winhold.

Rosalie had 2 more children, Michelle and William(Bill) becoming the imaginative mother and mentor of a house full of 4 children under the age of 5, while Dad, Don Winhold completed his BS Degree at Columbia Bible College, in Columbia, South Carolina.

Their Ministry together included the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Sioux City, Iowa, Trotwood Baptist Church, Trotwood, Ohio, 1st Baptist Church in Napoleon, Ohio, 1st Baptist Church in Azle, TX and 1st Baptist Church in Greenville, Ohio.

Rosalie was also an accomplished businesswoman as an award winning employment agency executive and insurance representative during the 1970s and 1980s.

Rosalie truly believed in education and ensured all 4 of her children attended University of the Cumberlands with Laura Sue and Michael graduating with BS Degrees and Laura Sue graduating with a Masters Degree from Tennessee Technological University.

Rosalie and Don made their next dream a reality by becoming the owners of the "SOLID ROCK ROLLER RINK" in Urbana, Ohio as a welcomed successful Urbana community ministry.

Upon retirement, Rosalie and Don enjoyed their favorite past-time "RV travel and camping". They thoroughly enjoyed this past-time with their sisters and brothers, children, grandchildren and friends.

Rosalie touched, blessed and changed many lives via her firm faith and encouragement to others.

She is survived by her brother Jake Derksen; Children: Laura Sue Gaines, Michael Winhold, Michelle Hopkins, and William(Bill) Winhold; six Grandchildren: Courtney Bowlds, Kirsten Gaines-Karpienya, Blake Winhold, Kristopher Winhold, Matthew Winhold; and Jonathon Winhold and Three Great Grandchildren: Cameron Mitchell McCaskill, Michael Andre Bowlds, and Colton Jase Winhold.

Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday July 18, 2014 in the Zechar Bailey Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 1:00 P.M. until time of the service in the funeral home.
