Rick McMiller

On June 19, 2014, our hearts were broken as Rick, a devoted husband and adoring father, passed from this life on to the next.  Born on July 12, 1950, to Richard and Betty McMiller, he later married Darla McMiller in June of 1969.

He was proud to be a retired ironworker and member of Locals #290 (Dayton) and #481 (Dallas), but felt his greatest accomplishment was the family he built.  The unwavering love he had for his wife and two daughters was only rivaled by his feelings for the five grandchildren that followed.

Our family would like to thank the countless nurses and doctors at Coldwater Hospital and Good Samaritan Dayton, for their tireless efforts, which along with the grace of God, allowed Rick to defy the odds many times.  We will forever be grateful for the care he received and the compassion they showed to all of us.

He is survived by his wife, Darla; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Greg Garfield, daughter and son-in-law Carmen McMiller and Damon Walker; grandchildren Wyatt, Ellie and Lucy Garfield and Jesse and Joey Walker.  In addition, he is survived by his parents; by his siblings, Bob and Kathy McMiller and Scott and Julie McMiller; by sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law; as well as by several nieces and nephews and many good friends.

He was preceded by his brother Tom McMiller.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like to request donations be made to the American Heart Association.  As morning was his favorite time of day, you are invited to visit with our family at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio on Saturday, June 28th from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m., with a memorial speech in his honor beginning at 10:15.
