Richard W. Baker
Richard W. Baker, 81, of Greenville, passed away Thursday afternoon,
November 13, 2014 at the State of the Heart Hospice Care Center in
Greenville.
He was born November 20, 1932, in Darke County, son of the late Raymond
M. and Sarah A. (Brosey) Baker. In addition to his parents he was
preceded in death by his wife, Charlene V. (Beatty) Baker on August 7,
2012; a son, Dale Allen Baker on October 24, 2012; brothers, Paul S.
Baker and David J. Baker; and a sister, Lois A. Reinbolt.
He is survived by his son, John Robert (Jennifer A.) Baker, MD, PhD, of
Virginia Beach, VA; a daughter-in-law, Susan B. Baker of San Diego, CA;
grandchildren, Daniel A. Baker, Rebecca A. Baker, Jackson R. Baker, and
Johanna E. Baker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Richard was retired as a machinist from the former Corning Glass in
Greenville and had owned and operated the Corner Machine Shop. He was a
member of the Palestine German Baptist Church and a graduate of
Palestine High School Class of 1950. Richard was an avid traveler
and boater having visited all of the continental United States with his
family.
Services will be held at 2 p.m., Wednesday, November 19, at the
Oliver-Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville. Burial will follow in the
Miller Cemetery near Palestine.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday from 1
p.m. till 2 p.m. The family requests that memorial contributions be
given to State of the Heart Hospice.
