Robert W. Little
Robert W. Little, age 84, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 5:40 A.M.
on Sunday, September 28, 2014 at Village Green Healthcare Center in
Greenville. Robert was born November 4, 1929 in Cheshire-Gallia County,
Ohio.
Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gayle G. Little whom he
married September 17, 1962; children, Robert Little Jr. & Nancy
Rivers of Fairfield, Ohio and Shari L. & Paul Creech of Wilmington,
Ohio; grandson, Ryan E. & Melody Creech of Williamsburg, Kentucky;
brothers, Gregory P. Little of Glenwood Springs, Colorado and Foster
& Lettie Little of Harlingen, Texas; sisters-in-law, Debra J.
Little of St. Charles, Missouri and Linda Little of Lebanon, Ohio; and
13 nieces and nephews, 20 great-nieces and nephews and 3 great-great
nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents and step parents, Foster
& Agnes Little, Effie & Ernest Nitz and Henry Penfound;
brothers and sisters, Hilah F. Glandon, Eugenia Pearl Little, Shirley
Little, Charles A. Little and Keith A. Little; brother-in-law, Ovid L.
Glandon; and niece, Andrea Little Streicher.
Robert served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Robert retired in 1994 from
Primex in Richmond, Indiana where he was an industrial electrician.
Robert was a Police Officer in Loraine, Ohio for 6 years, worked for
John Manville in Richmond for 15 years and Envirotech in Richmond for
16 years. Robert was a member of the West Manchester United Methodist
Church where he formerly served as President of the Board of Trustees.
Robert formerly served on the West Manchester Village Council; former
President of the West Manchester Lions Club; former Trustee for the
North Central Rescue Squad for 15 years and was formerly President of
the Board for 10 years. Robert was a life member and former Commander
of the West Manchester American Legion Post#665 and life member of the
3rd Armored Cavalry Association.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 4,
2014 at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville, Ohio with Pastor
Terry Campbell officiating. Burial will follow in Wares Chapel Cemetery
in Preble County with Military Honors conducted by the Preble County
Veteran’s Honor Guard. The family will receive friends on Friday from
5:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the funeral
home. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial
contributions be made to the West Manchester United Methodist Church
Building Fund.
