Otto D. Smith
Otto D. Smith, age 86 of Bexley, Ohio passed away at 11:35 AM Friday
April 1, 2016 at the Mount Carmel Hospital-East Columbus, Ohio.
He was born April 27, 1929 in White Cottage, Ohio and the son of the
late Oliver and Lillis (Geiger) Smith.
Otto was a Veteran serving in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956.
He graduated from college with his BS Degree in Agriculture Education
in 1956 and later in 1965 with his Masters in Agriculture
Education. Otto began his professional career as a Vocational
Agriculture Teacher from 1956 until 1958, then worked as a
Naturalist with the Columbus Metro Parks from 1958 until 1960
followed by a teaching position with the Columbus Public Schools from
1960 until 1988 at which time he began farming until just recently.
Otto was a 49 year member of the Capital City Lodge, the Aladdin Shrine
and Scottish Rite. He sang with the Columbus Maennerchor, the
Scottish Rite Choir and a soloist at the Central Presbyterian
Church. His hobbies where nature, music and antiques.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers and
sisters Wilbur Smith, Walter Smith, Roy Blair Smith, Viola Mae York,
Charles Smith and Irene Kilmore Ufferman.
He is survived by his wife Marylouise Lindemuth Smith of Bexley.
They were married Christmas Eve in 1960. Also numerous nieces and
nephews.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday April 7,
2016 in the Greenville Cemetery Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Peter
Menke officiating. There will be no public visitation.
