William Jack Meckes
William Jack Meckes, age 91, of Greenville, Ohio, passed away on
Thursday, December 29, 2016 at 8:48 AM at the Brethren Retirement
Community in Greenville, Ohio. He was born on October 16, 1925 in
Greenville, Ohio, to the late Pete & Irene (Helms) Meckes.
He is survived by his wife, June (Coppock) Meckes whom he married on
February 3, 1944; son and daughter in law, Michael & Shelley Meckes
of Greenville; daughter and son in law, Kimberly & Ned Sebring of
Greenville; grandchildren, Dustin Meckes, Tiffany Dickie, Jim (Lavonne)
Campbell and Cynthia (Dick) Hill; great granddaughter, Charlie Dickey
and several other grandchildren; sister and brother in law, Patricia
& Richard Faulknor of Greenville; as well as numerous nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his siblings,
Thomas Meckes, John Meckes and Mary Jo Brock.
He owned and operated Butter Top Bakery in Greenville and was part
owner of Peanut Barrel and the Greenville Flower Shop. He also
worked in insurance sales and dispatcher. He was a member of St.
Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville, VFW, American Legion, Elks and was
an avid golfer. He was a member of the United States Navy.
There will be a private service held at the convenience of the
family. Arrangements are under the direction of Zechar Bailey
Funeral Home, Greenville, Ohio.
It is the wishes of the family that memorial contributions be given to
Heartland Hospice or American Alzheimer’s Association.
