Carolyn C. “Kelly” Bruns, age 86, of Frenchtown, Ohio passed away at
10:53 A.M. on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at Versailles Health Care
Center in Versailles. Kelly was born May 31, 1929 in Ft. Loramie, Ohio
to the late Fred & Cecelia (Dircksen) Hilgefort.
Kelly is survived by her children, Fred & Deb Bruns of Frenchtown,
Dave Bruns of Frenchtown, John Bruns of Frenchtown, Ron & Margie
Bruns of McCartyville, Nancy & Mike Grieshop of Willowdell and Brad
& Lil Bruns of Frenchtown; grandchildren, Jennifer & Marc
Litten, Traci & Chad Monnin, Victoria Bruns, Ryan Bruns, Joseph
Bruns, Brian Grieshop, Kelly Grieshop, Kevin Grieshop, Katie Grieshop,
Brittany & Alex Dirksen, Justin Bruns, Tyler Bruns & Kayla
Bruns; great-grandchildren, Kole Litten, Kyle Litten, Karlie Litten,
Chase Monnin, Blake Monnin, Baylee Dirksen and Trevor Dirksen; brothers
& sister-in-law, Robert Hilgefort of Sidney and Louis & Phyllis
Hilgefort of Ft. Loramie; sisters & brother-in-law, Verona Boecker
of Minster, Mary Ann Heitkamp of Versailles, Rosemary Heitkamp of
McCartyville and Louise & Dennis Homan of Maria Stein; and numerous
nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Kelly was also preceded in death by her
husband, Wilbert B. Bruns on May 6, 1994 whom she married October 27,
1954; sister, Norma Post; brothers-in-law, Hugo Post, Bernard Boecker,
Jerry Heitkamp and Norb Heitkamp; and sister-in-law, Rita Hilgefort.
Kelly was a farmer’s wife and formerly worked at the Crystal Ball in
Frenchtown, Lost C in Frenchtown, Whitefords in Versailles, Aerovent in
Piqua, and retired from Clopay in Russia. Kelly was a member of Holy
Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown and the Versailles Eagles Ladies
Auxiliary. She was an avid Bingo player.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday,
February 27, 2016 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Frenchtown with
Rev. Fr. James Simons celebrant. Burial will follow in Holy Family
Cemetery in Frenchtown. The family will receive friends on Friday from
2:00 to 8:00 P.M. and Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at
Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. Memorial contributions may be
made to the Versailles Emergency Medical Services.
