Elsie A. Stentzel
Elsie A. Stentzel, age 87, of Greenville, Ohio passed away at 7:50 P.M.
on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Kindred Hospital in Dayton. Elsie was born
April 12, 1928 in Greenville, Ohio to the late William & Alma
(Fullroth) Rieman.
Elsie is survived by her husband, Richard H. Stentzel whom she married
October 20, 1951; son, Dr. Stephen R. Stentzel of Greenville, Ohio;
daughter, Kathryn D. Shafer of Avon, Ohio; grandchildren, Jennifer
& Jon Nettles, Monica Armstrong & Teri Howell and Nicole
Armstrong; and great-grandchildren, Kylie Nettles and Alex Nettles.
Elsie retired from the Darke County Courthouse with 50 years of
service. She started in the Recorders Office and later served 3 terms
as Clerk of Courts. Elsie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in
Greenville where she served for a number of years on the church
Evangelism Committee and called on shut-ins up until the age of 80. She
was also a member of the Darke County Republican Women’s Club and
Greenville Business and Professional Women’s Club where she received
Woman of the Year.
In addition to her parents, Elsie was also preceded in death by a
brother, Russell Rieman.
A funeral service will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Friday, March 11, 2016
at St. Paul Lutheran Church 131 East Fourth Street in Greenville with
Pastor Peter Menke officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove
Cemetery in Fort Jefferson. The family will receive friends on Thursday
from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville and
Friday from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. at the church. Memorial contributions
may be made to St. Paul Lutheran Church in Greenville.
