Isaac "Ike" Brown
Sherwin
Isaac “Ike” Brown Sherwin, age 94 and longtime resident of Berea OH and
recent resident of the Brethren Retirement Community of Greenville OH
passed away at 7:45 pm on November 27, 2016 after an extended battle
with cancer.
He was one of 6 children born on June 29 1922 to the dear late Albert
and Agnes (Brown) Sherwin. Ike's late wife of 66 years, Betty Adele
Sherwin (Grumbling) was his high school sweetheart in Barnesboro
Pennsylvania where they both were born and raised. Ike and Betty
married after Ike's WWII service in the Pacific Theater. Ike went to
war at age 18 and his service took him around the world and ultimately
landed him in some of the most intense fighting in Burma and India.
After he returned from war and married, he moved his family to the
Cleveland area following his wife's family to N. Royalton. He
found work as a partner in a painting business until Ike eventually got
a job selling pharmaceutical and medical supplies. All of Ike's early
years were formative for his love of God, family and country and that
love had a profound influence on everyone who knew him and everything
he did.
Now that he is passed, Ike will be missed by many but especially by his
two daughters, Gail Peters (Kent) and Rebecca Mistak (E James) along
with four grandchildren. Ike is also survived by eight
great-grandchildren. His family is grateful for his love and devotion
to them and to his wife. Also with gratitude, we remember his always
lively sense of humor and passion for living life fully engaged.
Ike's interests and hobbies over the years are numerous: harmonica,
hunting, fishing, camping, softball, tennis, racket ball and
golf. Most of all, his family and friends know of his love and
gratitude for the message of faith in Christ Jesus new life. New Life
for him began in this life and now this life is fully realized.
The family invites friends to visit them on Friday December 2, 2016
