William Donald Sturgill

William Donald Sturgill, age 83, of Greenville passed away at 2:12 A.M. on Sunday, October 2, 2016, at Ohio Health Doctors Hospital-West in Columbus. William was born May 20, 1933, in Hamilton, Ohio, to the late Virgil Henry & Willa (Chastine) Sturgill.
   
William is survived by his children, William & Kim Sturgill Jr., Tamara & Jim Ross, Gregory & Debbie Sturgill, David & Jennifer Sturgill, Belinda & John Schuermann, Dewayne & Chrissy Engle and Timothy & Andrea Sturgill; grandchildren, Tabitha Mathew, Amanda Dennis, Noah Sturgill, Adam Sturgill, Joshua Aslinger, Arlene Guess, Joshua Sturgill, Emily Sturgill, Luke Sturgill, Isaac Sturgill, Richard Schuermann, Jenny Schuermann, Alli Schuermann, Crystal Engle, Michael Engle, Tiffany Engle and Quincy Sturgill; step-grandchildren, Stefanie Ross and Jennifer & Jason Evans; great-grandchildren, Emma Jones, Austin Stutz, Brantley Stutz and Clayton Longwell; brother & sister-in-law, Virgil & Sarah Sturgill Jr.; sisters & brothers-in-law, Patricia & Don Devereaux, Myrna Freshcorn, Linda Raines and Brenda & Mark Wilson; brother-in-law, Charlie Malone; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
   
William was also preceded in death by his 1st wife, Arlene Elizabeth (Gilbert) Sturgill; 2nd wife, Brenda Carol (Roberts) Sturgill; and sister, Carol Malone.
   
William served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. William retired from GM in Dayton where he was a machine repairman. He was a lifelong member of the Moose International and the American Legion. He was a huge Buckeye fan, horse racing fan and sports fanatic. William was an avid bowler, softball player and golfer.
   
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 7, 2016, from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home in Greenville followed by a celebration of William’s life at the Greenville American Legion 325 North Ohio Street in Greenville. A private graveside service will be held in the Miami Valley Memory Gardens in Springboro on Saturday, October 8, 2016. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital P.O. Box 1000 Dept. 142 Memphis, TN 38148-0142 or the Buckeye Ranch Foundation 5665 Hoover Rd Grove City, OH 43123.
