Emerson Wayne Arnett, Jr.

Emerson Wayne Arnett, Jr., 78, of Greenville passed away on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at his home.

He was born on June 29, 1939 in Greenville to the late Emerson, Sr. and Bernice (Oberer) Arnett.

In addition to his parents, Emerson was preceded in death by his brother, Jack Arnett, and his brother-in-law, John Myers.

Emerson was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a 24 year veteran of the Wright Patterson Air Force Base Fire Department. He was a member of the Greenville Moose Lodge #329 and Greenville Eagles Lodge #2177. In addition to his full-time fire fighter duties, he always had part-time jobs such as working at Quality Farm and Fleet, as an auctioneer, and frequenting garage sales and flea markets. In spite of his work schedule, Emerson always found time to spend with his family.

Emerson had quite the memorable personality, and was quite the character - and that character was Donald Duck. Emerson loved all the Disney characters, but Donald held a special place in his heart. He would play the part and speak just like Donald for all the kids. He also was an avid collector of Donald Duck memorabilia.

Emerson is survived by his wife of 23 years, Debbie (Burd) Arnett, whom he married on March 19, 1994. His children and their spouses, Falaeh and Michael Gerace of Greenville, Joseph and Bernadette Arnett of Katy, Texas, Christopher and Jenny Arnett of West Chester, Ohio, Veronica Sutherland of Greenville, Tonia and Rich Metz of Wapakoneta, Nicole and Brock Douglas of Wapakoneta, Andrea McHenry of Sidney, and Brooke Garcia of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brothers and sisters-in-law, Gary and Phyllis Arnett of Greenville, and Larry and Cari Arnett of Florida; sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie Myers, Becky and David Simon, and Paula Anthony all of Greenville. Emerson also leaves a legacy of 11 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and countless nieces, nephews and friends.
