John Louis Klipstine

John Louis Klipstine, 70, of Ansonia, passed away early Friday morning, December 15, 2017 at Village Green Health Campus in Greenville.

He was born February 22, 1947 in Greenville, the son of George Louis Klipstine of Versailles and the late Joan (Black) Klipstine.

In addition to his mother, John was preceded in death by his step-mother, Sally Clymer Klipstine.

John was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Versailles, the Elks and the Goldwing Road Riders Association. At one time he was an Ansonia Village Councilman and served on the Greenville National Bank Board of Directors. He attended Ohio Northern University where he earned his Bachelor's degree in education. He taught for the Greenville School System at the Gettysburg School for six years before returning to his family’s business, Ansonia Lumber, where he was the bookkeeper from 1975 until 2010 when he retired.

John was a family man and played a leading role in the lives of his children, then later his grandchildren. He was attending all their sporting events, even the baseball games, which he didn’t enjoy as much but wouldn’t have missed them for the world. He loved fishing and would take his family on annual trips to Long Lake in Frazee, Minnesota. He enjoyed the outdoors, boating and loved taking trips with Becky on their Honda Goldwing motorcycle. John enjoyed many weekend trips with his family to Angola, Indiana for hours of boating and fishing. He and Becky also loved to head south to their winter home in Lake Wales, Florida when the weather got too cold. John was a wonderful husband and loving father and grandfather. He will never be forgotten and is already missed dearly.

John is survived by his wife of 49 years, Becky (Blackburn) Klipstine, whom he married June 30, 1968; his children and their spouses, Todd and Tammy Klipstine of Ansonia, and Krista and Tony Spence of Union City, Indiana; six grandsons, Adam and Chance Klipstine, Trevor, Tanner, Trendon and Treyton Spence; his brother and his wife, Bill and Kim Klipstine of Versailles; step-brothers and their spouses, Bryan and Aliana Clymer of Greenville, J.D. Clymer of Versailles, and Lenny and Tina Clymer of Florida; step-sisters and their spouses, Rene and Devon Wasson of Union City, Indiana, Connie and Jim Sink of Englewood, Ohio, and Teresa and Roger Fleckenstein of Versailles. John also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, friends and two special dogs, Kaycee and Lexi.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 AM, Thursday, December 21, 2017 at Oliver Floyd Funeral Home in Greenville with Pastor Bob Akins officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.

Family and friends may visit Wednesday from 4 – 7PM at the funeral home, and once again on Thursday from 10 – 11AM.

Memorial contributions may be made to State of the Heart Care, 1350 N. Broadway Street, Greenville, Ohio 45331 or Trinity Lutheran Church, 204 E Wood St, Versailles, OH 45380.
