Wilma L. Baker
Wilma L. Baker, age 101 and a half of Greenville, Ohio went home to be
with her Lord at 10:40 PM Sunday December 24, 2017 at the Village Green
Healthcare Center Greenville, Ohio. Wilma was born April 5, 1916
in Greenville and the daughter of the late Daniel and Bertha (Dismeier)
Schafer.
Wilma was a graduate of Gettysburg Local High School. She worked
at the Buckeye in Versailles, was a Department Manager for Montgomery
Ward Store in Piqua, cashier for Marsh Supermarket and Office Manager
for Pyrofax of Fort Recovery.
Wilma was an accomplished pianist and organist playing the organ for
St. John Lutheran Church and Oakland Church of the Brethren. She
was a lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church of Greenville and was
baptized, confirmed and married in that church. She was a member
of the ladies Dorca Bible Study Group at St. John and a member of the
Greenville Moose Lodge. Along with playing the piano and organ
she enjoyed spending time with her family, playing cards, reading and
watching TV.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of
57 years Delbert M. Baker. Also by her siblings and
their spouses: sisters Louella Schafer, Florence (Schafer)
Treon-Shoemaker, Frances “Buckles” Treon and Jake Shoemaker; brothers
Walter Schafer, Elmer & Gladys Schafer and Addie Schafer, Herb and
Marcella Schafer, Lawrence and Dorothy Schafer and Elaine Schafer,
Harold and Peggy Schafer, Robert and Phyllis Schafer, son-in-law
Larry D. Grove and grand dog Sadie Mae.
Wilma is survived by her son Ronald E. and Donna Baker and daughter
Connie L. Grove all of Greenville; grandchildren Randy and Elizabeth
Grove, Rick and Kathy Grove, Terri and Monte Clemens, Julie Baker,
Ronda Evans and Kevin Cade; great grandchildren Rachel and Derek
Koogler, Devon Grove, Danielle Grove, Ashlee Evans and Sheridan Reeser;
great great grandson Roman James Koogler as well as numerous nieces and
nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 AM Friday December 29, 2017 in
the St. John Lutheran Church 7418 State Route 121-N., Greenville, Ohio
Greenville, Ohio with Pastor Dan Schafer officiating. Burial will
follow in the Gettysburg Cemetery. The family will receive
friends on Thursday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM in the Zechar Bailey
Funeral Home Greenville, Ohio and on Friday from 9:30 AM until time of
the services in the church.
It is the wishes of the family that Memorial Contributions be given to
St. John Lutheran Church of Greenville.
