Cary E. VanDeGrift
Cary E. VanDeGrift, 63, of Greenville, went home to his Lord and Savior
early Thursday morning, July 6, 2017 at State of the Heart Care Center
at Wayne Healthcare in Greenville. He fought a hard fight against heart
and kidney disease especially the last two years.
Cary was born on April 22, 1954 in Greenville, to Faren G. VanDeGrift
of Florida and the late Ilene (Eley) VanDeGrift.
In addition to his mother, Cary is preceded in death by his
grandparents, Maurice and Mary Lou VanDeGrift and Marvin and Helen Eley.
Cary attended the EUM church and participated in the Emmaus Community
and sang in the choir. He loved God, his family, and never knew a
stranger.
In addition to his father and stepmother, Dottie, Cary is survived by
his wife of 38 years, Kelly (Shane) VanDeGrift of Greenville, whom he
married March 17, 1979; Kathleen (Christopher) Fields of Lebanon,
Rebecca (Andrew) Burns of St. Petersburg, FL, and Caroline VanDeGrift
(Justin Kelly) of Greenville; granddaughter Lucie Mae Fields and soon
to be grandson, Samuel James Fields; brother, David (Heidi) VanDeGrift;
sisters, Gayle (Greg) Ruwe, Barbara (Barry) Bolyard and several nieces
and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on
Saturday, July 15, 2017 at EUM Church, downtown campus, 111 Devor
Street, Greenville with Pastor Jeff Harper and Rev. Sylvia McKibben
officiating. Burial in Brock Cemetery will be held at a later date.
Family and friends may visit on Saturday, July 15, 2017 from 9AM to
11AM at the church.
Memorials may be given to EUM Church, 111 Devor Street, Greenville,
Ohio 45331, Comprehensive Health Network, 5420 State Route 571 E,
Greenville, Ohio 45331 or to Spirit Medical Transport 5484 State Route
49 South Greenville, Ohio 45331.
The family has entrusted services to Oliver Floyd Funeral Home.
